When they first arrived, it was clear that both dogs had had little interaction with people. Over the time they have been here, both dogs have blossomed and where they once sought to stay as far away from people as possible (although always gentle, just scared), they now actively seek out attention. They love cuddles and pats but they are always gentle, polite and very mindful of trying to do the right thing. Zoe and Zac are wonderful to watch as they play gently together. Both dogs love to play with other well mannered dogs too. Zoe is on the small size for a Border Collie and would be below the knee in height. For that ten years she was made to live under a house on her own. She was riddled with fleas, malnourished and had infected eyes. When she arrived at the pound, the carers worked wonders and controlled Ebby's fleas, her infection and she gained weight. But some physical scars still remain for Ebby. She has spinal arthritis and she has a calloused bottom (sitting on hard surfaces). Ebby will be a special needs girl for the remainder of her life and she needs to remain on pain medication. Ebby will also need to be an only dog. Ebby loves exploring though and relishes the time she has to do this... something she has been unable to do for such a long time.
